Hello Talkbass users!
I have made a similar post about playing both DB and EB but, I never truly talked about my feelings of confliction and looking for deeper advice. I am truly feeling super conflicted these past few months. I have enough to rent a Double bass and start taking lessons but on the other hand I feel like I do not want to reject my bass guitar and I could take bass guitar lessons and go full on crazy on my bass guitar journey... I truly do not know what to do, I love Classical and Jazz but some days I feel bass guitar and want to get to the level of Jazz fusion type of stuff. I like and love the idea of having a true acoustic instrument but also have to learn a totally new and intense style of playing, I know DB is not a joke and is a hard beast to learn (but fun!) I also have a dumb fear of having no electricity and no way to play my bass guitar. I plan to get some type of battery pack soon of some kind to help that fear (feel free to recommend that as well!) but I think it's great to have an acoustic instrument around incase power goes out or something!
What are your thoughts and has anyone had a similar issue? At the end of the day I play for fun, I would love to join a jazz group I truly probably join bands on bass guitar and I know college bands generally are looking for a bass guitarist not a DB player (but would be cool :0!)
Anyway I apologize if I forgot any info for the comments to ask. I also apologize if this is the wrong area to share, hope you all have a great day and weekend!!!
