Felton bass mute vs NordyMute

Has anyone run across each of these? Other than the variety of finishes (NordyMute) and string spacing selected (NordyMute) vs custom string spacing and two firmness options (Felton), any experienced comparisons would be appreciated.

I roll my own.
Piece of scrap foam cut to size, and slots for the strings.

I hear you... I've got two 6qt containers filled with various foam/packing material/felt, hunting for the most practical/easy-on easy-off solution.

Just finding the right firmness/width and depth to use as an over the strings solution hasn't worked out for me (yet). Also, not sure if those two products actually "gauge" the slots for the variation in string thickness.

Besides, hurriedly grabbing a piece of foam off the instrument sounds like a point of failure for the mute.

When I make mine I account for string width by first inserting the foam under the strings. Then I slide along the strings with a razor blade to cut slots. When done I remove the foam and insert it from the top. String slots are the right distance apart, which I also find isn't horribly critical.

Yes hurriedly grabbing the foam off could be a point of failure though I have not experienced that problem yet.
I'd feel a lot better about trashing a free scrap of foam than a $40 one. That's a matter of personal choice.

Yep. But that's a 100% more $'s but practicable if you don't mind adhesives or screws on the instruments top.
