Fender 60s Jazz Bass

I played it a music store and it was pretty similar to my friends standard jazz. The sales guy said that the the tuning pegs were reversed but thats the only thing different about it that he said.

I was just wondering why it is so cheap compared to the other j's.

they are made in mexico, the top of the mexican line. better vintage pickups, vintage
tint on the neck finish. the very slim neck plays awesome, but watch out, the
one i had kept bowing. i kept tightening the neck rod 2-3 times a year, which worried
me, so i sold it. otherwise, i really liked that bass...

Mine (an early 2001 with some mods) is my #2 gigging 4-string behind my Sadowsky P/J. I have used it for recordings, live work, as a loaner for my students, and as a tour back up.

These MIM basses get a lot of love on TB. IMHO, if you find a good one, you will be very happy. I might add that the RW jazzes I have played in the last few months were better instruments, but more expensive.

PS. no neck issues with mine.

well it is $850 and a used geddy is $650, what should i go for.

i play 60s and 70s rock. JPJ is my fave, second is geddy.

I'd go for the Geddy....great bass, and I'm not a Geddy Lee fan....I wish I never sold mine

I too would take the Geddy @ $650.00 though, and the Road Worn is cool for just a bit more.

... I got mine (pictured) used at GC in as new condition for $249.00

i played the 60s, but i had to go so i didn't get a chance to play the geddy

$850.00 is FAR too to pay for a Mexican 60s Reissue. You can get a Road Worn for around $950.00 from many places. Could it be a Japanese or a used US? $850.00 for a US is cheap and still a bit pricey for a Japanese.

I agree. Highway Ones are KILLER basses. If you put new pups in them, they really kill. I have repainted and upgraded about 15 Highway Ones to look and sound like 60s basses because of their routing and everyone who has bought one loves them.

You should be able to find a used 60's Jazz for around $500.

I think the highway one doesnt have the round hole under the pickguard and doesnt have the channel going from neck pickup to controle plate like the new ones.
They are routed like they used to be in the 60s

This bass has been put up and pulled off by same owner once or twice. Good deal. You could PM him and see what the deal currently is.

At that price ,if the bass didn't jive with you, you could always recoup your money reselling it locally.
