But I can't help myself and the last post was only six days ago, so... here goes.
I messed with bass in my teens, but ended up being more of a drummer. A couple of years ago I was picking up a snare at a pawn shop and ended up buying a Jackson JS-40. We were in the middle of moving so it spent a year or so in a case.
A little over a year ago I started my voyage toward being a "real" bass player. I joined TB, spent a lot of time watching youtube vids to help figuring things out and eventually started lessons last summer. My playing has come a long way in a year. I'm now playing in a blues band and enjoying bass GAS.
I gave away the Jackson and have been playing a Peavey Fury P bass clone, a Peavey Dyna and a Schecter C-4XXX. I find myself using the Fury most of the time. I decided that now that I'm giging as a bassist I'd look into getting something a little higher on the coolness factor.
I've played a ton of basses. I decided early on that I wanted a P-Bass of some kind. I played an American Special and was underwhelmed. I played a couple of American Standard Precisions and started thinking that I might go that route. Then I saw the 60th Anniversary edition. WOW!
I love maple necks, the old school styling, the high mass bridge , it really speaks to me. I went to GC as it was the only place close that had one. I sat down and played a blonde, very nice! Then I saw the sunburst and I had to try iy. It played even better.
I put the sunburst bass on layway on Yesterday. I've read this thread begining to end.
I'm chomping at the bit for this bass.
