Fender 62 Jazz Reissue (MIJ)

I have found a CIJ 62 Reissue to order online for a decent price, but have heard that the Japanese made Fenders tend to vary a lot in quality, has anyone else heard this?
It has Japanese Vintage pickups and a basswood body. What sort of tone can I expect?
I am interested in putting flats on it, would this be a good combo?

I'd say go for it . The Japanese Finders are really nice{ really good QC } I've got a US 62 Jazz Reissue , that I play probably more, than any of my other bass , & I own some really nice high end basses. The only thing that I changed, was the stock pickups. They were a little on the bright side for me , so I replaced them, with Seymour Duncan Antiquity Ones. Now My 62 reissue jazz , sounds like an old 62 jazz. Playing that bass through one of my Ampeqs { I'm in bass heaven } , just about covers anything that I need to do.

I would like to bring this thread to life- is there already some clearance in those MIJ/CIJ models? I just bought 1990 MIJ Pbass 62RI, which has reversed kluson style tuners, don't know which pickups yet. Does anybody know, when did Fender switched to those 70' style tuners on all their alder and ash reissues? (except 51RI, 62RI jazz fretless etc.).

They could be Vintage Jazz singles...

Being it a 2001 model, it should be a Made in Japan one, not Crafted in Japan, so pickups can possibly be released directly in Japan on Fender's appointment and licences, thru royalties.

Modern CIJ models receive components from Ensenada, if I'm not wrong, then everything got summed up and "assembled" over there.

Please allow me to bring this thread to life again another time
- an used Jazz Bass I bought in the US in the early 90's as a Japanese made '62-ish-reissue is then most likely the same kind as discussed here. Black body, with reddish tort, rosewood fretboard, big tuners, all exactly looking as the pics here.

But the back of the neck is given a satin treatment, so 'Made in Japan' & 'serial' are both gone.

Any chance of finding some info or markings inside the neck pocket ? I didn't want to remove the neck so far.
