Fender 70's Jazz Bass - RATM

Hopefully you guys are familiar with the Rage Against the Machine video with their last concert before the break up in 2000, "Live at the Grand Olympic Auditorium." Well if you notice Tim Commerford's (the bassist) 70's Fender Jazz Bass has different pickups that he put on himself, for the people that know what I am talking about, what kind of pickups did he put on that bass?

from what i remember reading tim is a fan of personally winding his own pickups. so they maybe be identical to a particular stock pickup in terms of wire/magnets/etc but they are timmy c originals. that is dedication !

yeah man im sure those are solid if they are in the Fender CS basses. I would check the J bass comparison that is stickied at the top of the Pickup/Electronics page, there is a ton of information there. Are you replacing the pups in a Fender bass or a different brand? Also you need to consider whether you want active or passive as this will help you narrow down the field. There are a TON of different J pups out there.
