Fender 9050CL back again?

The 9050s won't sound like rounds for long. After a couple of months they'll lose all the high end and will be very midrangey
Yes but i don't play that bass much ....so right now I'm getting definition similar to a Ric sound overall.... there is something to the 9050s on this bass... it's definitely far away from a typical Fender w flats sound which I I'm really happy with!

All flats sound far away from the typical flats sound when they are new. AFAIK only Steve Harris changes flats every day, everybody else keeps them forever, the older the better.

Well I've had GHS Precision flats and they sounded nothing like Fender 9050s right off...I've got old 9050s on a Peavey P bass and they don't sound like LaBella or GHS Precision flats but whatever .....I don't play the Aria w 9050s enough to break them in likely in the next year lol! I'm more of a GHS pressure wounds guy.

I didn't say they sound the same right off. I said they sound brighter than when they're broken in. Fender 9050s had the most dramatic change among the flats I've tried.
Haven't had the chance to try GHS strings yet.

I do agree Fender 9050s do take a good month or two (or even longer) of regular playing to settle into their throaty low-mid bliss. GHS Precision Flats are almost ready to go right out of the package, at least the 45-95 set I've used off and on. Not a huge difference between "new" and "broken in".

Gotcha....still the worn broken in 9050s on my 89 Peavey Fury w a Duncan SPB1 vintage P is not what I call sort of thumpy the same way LaBella or GHS Precision flats.

I do use foam mutes some and right now GK 800RB.

How many hours do you think 9050s need to break in?

This is the reason I will likely go GHS Precision flats next time....

I think I will try the Eucerin cream on my newer 9050s on another Peavey Foundation w maple neck it's just clanky and bright and at 67 I don't get enough playing time to break them in at home.

My bass's hopeless neck told me in a matter of minutes that the 9050ML set I had bought were going to be coming off immediately, but I had long enough playing the set to know that I really liked the tone overall, and really liked the tonal balance from string to string, and liked the feel (except perhaps the E was less taut that ideal for my preferences) - I would have been happy with the sound they were making straight out the pack indefinitely.

Back to the original point of the thread - has anyone seen the actual physical packaging of the new CL set? Have we got an answer to what the gauges actually are?

Much as I'm sure that the 45-65-85-105 promo material with prove to be correct, it's not "actual physical packaging", is it? 😉
Looks like Strings By Mail has just updated what's showing on their site for the 9050L set.
