Fender 9120 vs D'addario Nylon Tapewound

So I had Chromes on my Jazz and XL's on my Precision. I was not not give the P much playing time, so I decided to switch the strings around. Well now I love my P but hate my J. I lost a lot of low end and I'm not a fan of those trebley overtones. Tapewounds sound like a good option for my Jazz because of less treble and more high mids, and I love high mids. But should I get the D'addarios or the Fenders? Or maybe I should just order another set of Chromes.

The Fenders are now made by D'addario. Not sure how much difference there is between them since I never tried the D'ados The Fenders feel and sound good though. I used them for a while but went back to TIs.
B.

Sent you a PM.

i'd do rotosounds. i haven't tried the new d'addarios but i have a set of fenders, and i took them off immediately because they sounded too much like rounds for my tastes. the rotos are thuddier imho.

I agree Jimmy. I spec'd out the new Fender tapes.....and they are quite "articulate" for a tapewound. They aren't as old-school as some might think.

well that lets them completely out for me, roger, because this set of fenders i have were made before d'addario took over their manufacturing, and even they sound like rounds. but this set of rotos that came on my realistic violin bass when i bought it were very thuddy and had pretty much nothing past the initial attack, which if i were buying tapes, that would be what i want, and probably what the op wants as well. wish i could have kept them on it, but they were too thick and kept binding up.
