I just joined the forum, and wanted to post a pic of my new ADE Jazz. It's a gift from my wife for my 50th b-day. Does anyone else on here have an ADE Jazz or Precision? I
Bill, very nice, thanks for sharing, welcome to TB, and Happy Birthday ... bass details??
... no ADE here ... but, I would imagine a few single guys on here might be wondering if your wife happens to have an equally giving/loving sister that is 'available' ...
.. in case you haven't seen it, here is a link to a thread started last month here about it ...
Hi Templar and tjh. If it wasn't my 50th, I'd have never gotten this little gem. Thanks for the kind words, and here are the bass's details. This Jazz is real similar to the 74 re-issue but without the original bridge as I went with the high-mass version for better sustain and a deeper sound. The pickups are Fender Noiseless and I went with the maple neck. I'd have gotten the 74' re-issue but the maple neck was only available on the natural and white model and I was dead-set on the body being sunburst and the neck maple. Additionally, the 74 re-issue is about $2300 and this one cost about $1850. We went with the "no-charge" case (it's a great case...I couldn't believe they didn't charge for it) and "no charge" alder body. Ash would have been $100 more. I visualized a maple neck with the sunburst body, complemented with the tortoise shell pick guard, and wasn't disappointed in how neat the contrast between the darker body and light neck would look. And the tone. Wow! I'm a big believer in active neck-through basses as my main bass is a Pedulla, but this bass, along with my other passive basses, have reminded me just how great a passive sound can be. Especially when played through a first-rate amp.
Thanks Mojo! I love that maple neck and haven't had one since 86. Yes. The neck is a little chunkier than I imagined it would be, as I'm used to the Pedulla neck. Still, it's just apples and oranges and I love the slim width as it's like they say, really fast.
