I still have an Export Edition, which was my first-ever bass. A handful of years ago I had a non-export 'Dyne in Old Candy Apple Red (OCR), but had to sell it out of financial necessity. Also, I have a couple of parts-basses with Aerodyne necks. This one coming my way has a Dolphin Gray (DFG) finish, a color I've wanted ever since I found out about the non-export editions.
Quick story…the first bass I ever wanted to own was a Squier Standard Precision Bass Special in Satin Pewter Metallic. Eventually, I managed to get the whole Squier Standard set.

)And while Fender-Japan's DFG finish is really close, if not exactly alike, I'd never had to chance to get one at a reasonable price until yesterday. It should reach my local Guitar Center by early next week, so we'll see where it falls on the sliding scale of "Awesome".

Say, speaking of Aerodyne's and parts basses: Anybody know what an Export-model body might be worth? The tech tells me that the neck on mine isn't very good and that I should sell it as a body alone. Does a black Export-model body with a funky neck have any value?
Most certainly. Proper daylight should really bring out it's metallic pewter-ish-ness.
If it's stock and in good condition, I'd say somewhere in the $300+ range, then adjust based upon condition and/or upgrades.
Did your tech say what was specifically wrong with the neck?
I think he said it was warped. I'm not sure what that meant other than it wasn't worth trying to set up.

As for the pickups, we'll see how they sound when I get it. I had a SPB-3 pup in my first parts-bass and it was a bit too aggressive for my taste, which is weird because I definitely like a fair bit o' grind in my sound.
And on that note…since I was probably going to ask the club anyway, I'd like to hear from people who swapped out their Aerodyne's pickups for something else. What did you chose and why?
I swapped my pickups to the EMG Geezer PJ set and have been very happy with them but this was my first pickup upgrade. As far as why, the large amount of positive reviews and the easy plug and play design of them were the biggest influences in my choice.
Can anybody tell me which type and size of key is used for a 2010 MIJ Aerodyne Jazz bass (the export model, without pickguard).
No problem. I have a multi-tool like this one. It's served me very well for most of my setups, including adjustments to my Aerodyne.

Cheers! That looks like a good tool to have. It wouldn't work, though, on my basses which have the truss rod adjustment 'sunk into' the body (requiring a key with an angle).
Meanwhile I found my set of allen keys. It appears that the 5 mm (metric) key fits the Aerodyne's truss rod bolt.
After struggling to not hate the Ray24 I bought last year, got a great trade in price to allow me to bring this one home
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I thought all Aerodynes adjusted at the headstock. Is there some other model that adjusts at the neck-heel that I'm unaware of?
Congrats! I’m sure you’ll enjoy the Aerodyne. Mine was the first bass I ever got & it seems to have stood a test of time where some other more pricey instruments have disappointed & have been turned back out onto the market.
Definitely has a more organic sound, but very bright and grindy (that was the objective)
Pickups are very hot, so has a nice bite if needed, and a solid punch finger style. Mellows out nice rolling the volume or tone off
