Fender Aerodyne Club!

Recently added a Walnut Flame Maple to the family, here is the new family photo..

Burst - DiMarzio Heavy Drive pickups (orginals on bass) / D’Addario Nylons
Blue Jazz - Fralin pickups / GHS Boomers
Blue PJ - Fralin pickups / LaBella Flats
Red - Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder pickups / GHS Boomers
Natural - EMG Geezer Butler pickps / LaBella Flats

Now desperately seeking the remaining unicorn, the KOA Special Edition.
Finders fee if you find one and I am able to purchase it.

  1. Nothing personal, but part of me wants to hate you for finding such a lovely gem. :p ;)
  2. I totally get where you're coming from. In my opinion, they stand out as the single, loveliest Aerodyne ever made in a sea of already awesome looking instruments. :drool:
  3. Not on your life, sir! I'd eagerly liquidate a whole host of my basses to pay off that bill! :rollno: :spit: :D

Well, it’s been off the Fender website for a little while, and while that isn’t necessarily a reliable indication, the concurrent arrival of the Aerodyne Special series does lend some credence to the article.

Glad I got mine when I did.

I know it is a departure for the line (which I have loved since the early/mid 2000), but something about it just grabs me. The tone sounds great in the vids I have seen.

Can’t believe they went with a maple neck, when the ultra dark-stained, rosewood fretboard has always been a trademark feature of the Aerodyne. Still, a really nice (and different) bass.

Yah it is pretty different for a p I guess.

I am going to be slinging it pretty low and be wailing on it with a pick, so its visuals align with that purpose IMO

With the light and vibrant colours they used for this series, I can understand the choice. Actually, they also stopped staining the fretboards of the export models a while ago - my 2021 Aerodyne has an ordinary rosewood fretboard.

Does anyone know where I can get shorter saddle screws and the what the proper size is? The screws on my A and D saddles are too long and at times irritate my hand when I'm picking. I could try and grind them down but if I mess it up then I'm dead in the water. Here's a couple of pics for reference.

I was actually surprised to find that my local old school hardware store sells things like this. I wasn't actually looking, I just stumbled upon them. I think I would take one out, and see if they can match the thread. Alternatively, bring the bass down, and see if they have one that will fit the hole. Local hardware stores actually love silly projects like this. Makes them realize they still have a place and a purpose.
