At first gut reaction was to chime in to the effect of, "No! NO!! They're ALL basswood!!!
", but then I saw the sculpted neck heel and plate. Now, I'm thinking it might be some kind of Aerodyne II or, even better, it might be a sign that FMIC is starting to produce limited edition 'Dynes with fancier tops and different pickup configurations, like the ol' DiMarzio Aerodynes of yesteryear. If so, shine on, you crazy diamonds! 
(...and while you're at it, would it be too much to ask for a return to the 7.25" radius? Pretty please with overseas sales on top?!

I think that is grey - the lighting in those photos is odd. I've only seen Aero's in green in my dreams.

That's UGB - US Gunmetal Blue. Search UGB aerodyne and you'll see many examples. It's one of my favorite colors and photographs differently ranging from gray to blue to green. this is my UGB jazz
...and Ernie Ball Cobalt flats are some of the strangest sounding flats!
Trying out some 45-105 Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats on my Aerodyne. The G on the 40-95 set sounded thin and the extra light gauge too far off its current setup. Liking them the best so far, and bright enough I don't miss rounds. Excellent intonation.
Cool deal! And I'm guessing by now you've noticed the tactile difference from the slightly wider gap between the outer wraps, ja?
I do like their feel. Wish I could get the Roto Monel sound with the EBCF tension. Curious how these will settle in.

Interesting, especially with them dropping the bridge pickup. Additionally, it appears there are some J/J pickup Aerodynes as well. But, as much as I think they look super-cool, €1549 is too rich for my blood.

I think one of the best things about the Aerodyne is that it sounds, plays, and feels like a bass that costs twice as much. Now they cost twice as much! (I bought mine 6 years ago for ~$800 USD.) I'm not saying they aren't worth the price, mind you. But those prices undermine one of the great things about Aerodyne basses. It's now £300 more than the Player Plus Jazz, which is active. I compare the 2 because Mrs Thumpenstein bought me a Player Plus J last Christmas. It's made in Mexico and the fit and finish are comparable.
I think the darker colors look better on those bodies. And "California Blue"? Looks like Carolina Blue to me!
Fender has reissued its Japanese-made Aerodyne Special series of electric guitars, which puts a radical contemporary twist on the Big F’s classic Stratocaster, Telecaster, Precision Bass and Jazz Bass designs.

Based on the price point being VERY similar to the Player Plus series, my guess is Mexico.
