Fender Aerodyne Club!

What model xtender?

It's a Hipshot BT10. They're specifically made for Japanese Fenders. Mine went in without a hitch.

The chrome one blends in best with the smoked chrome hardware. The black model isn't shiny enough and would stand apart from the rest. That is, unless you've done a full-on stealth treatment like more than a few in this club.

Actually I bought the black one and it was black chrome just like my aero hardware! I have since parted ways with the Aerodyne but still have the Hipshot tuner (new owner didn't want it). PM me and make an offer if anyone is interested. I don't have any other CIJ Fenders so it's just sitting on my work bench.

I had no problem bolting the Gotoh 201 on to my Aerodyne. Mine doesn't have a route for the bridge, so a small shim in the bottom of the neck pocket got the action set just right and it's been great. No more wandering saddles or screws poking my hand.

I might have to look into upgrading the tuners with some ultralites next. I'd love to reduce the neck dive a bit more. The heavier bridge definitely helped to balance it a bit, but I don't notice any difference in amplified tone or resonance.

No regrets on the swap though, for $20 it was well worth it just for cosmetic reasons.

2012 Aerodyne. Not sure if I posted here before but here goes.
Could not wait till I got home to take it out of the box from GC.

I like to think I am cool almost a year later(Grainy).

On a different note. This bad boy is getting a gotoh 201, Bassline QP and Dimarzio ultra J in about two weeks. Seriously contemplating cream pup covers to match the binding but nobody has done this(Or at least put pictures on the internet). Am I crazy?

Oh, and # please.

I put a Gotoh 201 on mine and it drops right on. If you like really low action you might have to shim the neck up a bit, but I like medium action on my basses so it was perfect. No more dancing saddles or intonation issues.

I have been leaning towards upgrading my Aero with a set of active EMG PJX and a Spector TonePump pre. I'm finding that I'm just not a passive tone guy. I figure it'll need a small square cavity just above the factory route to house the pre and battery and a cover for it. A local luthier estimated the job at $200. That includes a brass nut, fret level and dress, custom route and a black plastic recessed fitted cover to match the stock appearance. As for the extra knob, due to the Tonepump normally having two Vol pots in parallel, I'm going to wire both p'ups in parallel to a single Vol, so it'll be Vol/Bass/Treble. I always run both p'ups full on anyways, I balance the outputs by adjusting their height.

I'll post before and after shots. I can't put any sound bites up, I don't have any recording equipment, but I imagine it'll sound a bit like a Spector, which is my full intention. ;)

You have number 70. The Gotoh is a direct replacement. The QP/ UJ combo is a great combo. I've never seen cream pup covers
