My first bass comes in this week. Pictures when it arrives. It is a black Aerodyne Jazz. My wife bought it for me for my 50th.
Does anyone on this forum know of a source for Aerodyne Jazz replacement knobs in the "smoked chrome" metal? My knobs are shot and flaking on my used '09 Black Aero (no pickguard).
Fender part 008-0212-000.
None of the usual sources (Allparts, Bass Parts Resource, Guitar Parts Guru) have them listed, and when I emailed them, they indicated that they are no longer shipping from Fender.
Since the Aero is CIJ/MIJ, is there a source overseas?
Anyone got a source for Aerodyne Jazz parts (tuners, bridge, knobs, pickups) if I want to keep it "stock"?
On a related note, they suggest substituting the black chrome metal strat knobs made for split shaft posts... does anyone know if the Aero has split shaft posts? I'm assuming they do since there is no set screw on the stock Fender knobs. Also thinking these will work since this bass also has a strat style jack on the face of the body.
I'll go with the black chrome if I can't have smoked!

Not a very good pic, but seeing as only the jazz owners have posted so far, I thought I'd put this out there; my Aero Pbass!
This one brings back memories! Only I sold it to a friend of mine and he loves it too. I had put on chrome bridge and p-up covers to retro-vibe it and an amber pearloid pickguard - really tasty! Played great too and awesome workmanship.
Just got off the phone with MusicPartsGuru.com (630-521-9170) regarding replacement knobs for my Black Aerodyne Jazz with the smoked chrome hardware (they are the only source to obtain them).
Turns out the smoked chrome hardware (tuners, knobs, and bridge) are being discontinued!...
I ordered the 3 replacement knobs I needed and he mentioned that when he called Fender, they only had about 2 dozen left in stock.... and the other smoked chrome hardware is in short supply as well.
Anyone who wants original hardware better order soon!

Btw am I the only Aerodyne owner whose output jack is always getting extremely loose?

just found mine loose 2 days ago while I was investigating a new ground hum. Simple to fix-- I just pulled the loose nut off (on the input side of the jack), put a "star" lock washer on it, and tightened it back up. Fixed it immediately and shouldn't be a problem anymore!

Me too, initially. I just gave it a good tightening, and it's been fine since.
I read that the some of the fender cases don't fit it correctly
I have an official Fender Jazz hardshell case in which my Fender Aerodyne Jazz bass fits perfect. Rarely use it as my gig bag is more useful for around-the-town gigging.
I'm assuming you're asking about molded body bass cases, as any universal bass case would work, too. Jazz bass body types can fit into Precision cases, but Precision bass body types can NOT fit into a case that only fits Jazz bodies.... most cases are designed to fit both.
I have an Aerodyne Jazz (some have the Precision) and I use the SKB brand SKB-FB4 shown here and LOVE it--and it looks cool, too! (photo courtesy music123.com):Invalid Link Removed
It fits both a P or J style body and has the ATA locking latches... it won't accidentally pop open.
