Fender American Design Experience

How long did it take for the ADE rep to respond and resolve the issue?

I don't recall the exact sequence of events but I seem to remember not getting an initial response from the ADE rep via email but a great response from a "regular" Fender phone rep who put it on the ADE rep's plate. After that it went pretty quickly. The ADE rep wanted the repair tech at GC to go through him as far as paperwork was concerned so that was transparent to me but from what I understand there weren't any issues. I think I had it back within a week of my phone call..

EDIT: Ha, I went back and found my original post on the matter. Yep, no answer to email to the ADE rep. It took a phone call to the regular Fender support line to get the ball rolling. I forgot about the G nut slot being poor as well. Sheesh.

The fact that you've already had the conversation with your ADE rep makes it seem like it should go quickly for you.

My new 2014 American Standard Precision has a neck joint just like this, & the router hump I think that's what they call it. I emailed Fender about it and a gentlemen call Jeff said take it to an authorised Fender dealership, but I live in the UK so I will see if the neck can be fitted better or leave it as it is. I paid £1158 for my bass in January bought online so my fault on that as I bought unseen. But for that sort of money things like this should not happen.

Just return it to the online merchant you bought it from.

I fail to see whats wrong with that neck joint? These are bolt on necks that looks perfectly fine for a bolt on, if you can squeeze a quarter in then no but that looks like barely a piece of computer paper could fit in.

I can see why Fender is slow to reply if they get emails like these.

It's an American Design Experience bass bought directly from Fender.

See original post. The neck joint is the secondary concern I had. Sorry, it's an $1800 bass. Believe it or not, it is possible to make a bass with a precise neck pocket. Not only is this one not a good fit, but it has "notches" on both sides that are jagged. See the photos above of the American Standard and the Lakland. Somehow they have perfect neck pockets as do my other basses. It's just a lack of fit and finish that I wouldn't expect on an $1800 bass.

I already read your posts earlier. Call Fender up and say the bass has this issues, you will not take it to an authorized dealer as that is not your responsibility when you spend $1,800 on an instrument. For that price (and really any price) it is the responsibility of Fender to send a perfect product. Return the bass and have them send you a new one.

I can't believe they told someone to take it to an authorized dealer without taking a percentage off the total price to help cover their gas and inconvenience.

True. My $150 SX basses have perfect neck pockets--and one (the Andromeda) has a one piece ash body. So it can be done ...

Fender's policy is to have it checked out locally by an authorized repair tech. That doesn't preclude it being sent back. I think it makes sense as it probably takes less time to get the bass back to you if it's something that can be (relatively) easily addressed. If not, then it gets sent back.

I don't know if you can insist that it be sent back without that step, I didn't try. But I am pretty sure that is what they are going to ask you to do.
