Fender American Professional series discontinued?

Do we need an anonymous source to tell us that? It’s Fender’s modus operandi.
I had asked when this thread was posted but as it’s been about a month... obviously no one here should take this as gospel

Why in the hell did Fender stop offering the elite or ultra series precision in black with the maple fretboard? That was one the best looking colors IMO. But then again I lllooovvveee black basses and I imagine some others don't. But I think it shoukda been left as one of the color options at least. And add a few more color options to the standard black, sunburst, white color choices. IMO they had it right as far as color choices on the elite series. Now the only colors I realy like are the sunburst and the Arctic white with tort guard. I would like to see a nice dark to light grey burst added perhaps. Or this would prolly be a far stretch but maybe offer the ultra series basses with no pickguards at all for a more modern look and offer sum quilted maple tops with various colors as an available option. Just my thoughts and opinions

So a v2 of the American Pro Line?..........Interesting.
If this is true, then it will be interesting to see what the tweaks end up being.
I've had all of the following Fenders (over the years) and (outside of the V-Mod pickup) the Am Pro would be in my top 2 or 3 (the other two being the Select Precision & American Original 50's Precision).

I have to assume the V-Mod's are long gone.
Just about everyone I know either a) flipped the coils; or b) replaced the pickup altogether (I have a Klein Epic 62 in mine).

Some things that I think would be nice in a v2 series would be:
  • Stealth string retainer for the A string
  • Contoured heal (where the neck plate is) like they do on the Elite series
  • Classic colors as standard options
    • Sea Form
    • Shell Pink
  • I'd love to see a natural color option like they did with the American Ultra series
Should be interesting.

I've come to expect this tactic from Fender over the past few years. I'm sure COVID sped things up in this case, as there's not much of a demand for musicians right now.

With things as they are, there’ll probably (hopefully) never be a better time for them to facelift a model.

If I was involved in the manufacturing of the Fender P bass, I’d just want to produce something which was universally liked. I can’t see that there’s much to change apart from pups and colours! A proper custom ordering process would be good, too.
