Fender American??

So I am buying this bass off a kid, who is younger than I am. It's a fender precision body, it has precision and jazz pickups, the body is white, and the pickguard is black. It has a maple neck on it, black tuning keys.....The neck is maple/maple board the headstock does say made in USA, it is not a string through body. I am wondering if fender might have made these in the 80's or early 90's. There are no real mods done to the bass, I am wondering if this is a real MIA bass or not, I currently don't have a pic, but I wondering if anybody has some insight...

Sounds like a Precision Special.

Probably late 80's early 90's.

My memory is sketchy , but I think they made those in the U.S. up until around 93- 94ish.

does it have 22 frets? lace sensors? just thinking it might be a pbass plus. those were american made. but the black tuning keys don't make sense in that case unless they're replacements.

I missed the black keys. Yup, those would be replacements.

I have a friend who plays an earlyish 90's MIA Precision Special.

The Plus had the "boner" body Correct?

Sounds more of a parts bass to me, maybe a jazz bass special body with a MIA neck on it.

Sounds like a Fender Precision Plus to me (I play one). Got a picture? They were made 1988-1993 or so ...
