I got slap happy on a set of stainless rounds from Fender. They died kinda fast, though, and are in a Ziploc until the apocalypse strikes and I can't get my DR PURE BLUES fix.

Fender bass strings, who likes them?

I spent some time recording my two jazz basses; one has D Addario and the other Fender. I like the D Addario zing better than the straight bass sound of the Fender which has more of an old school sound. Nothing wrong with them but I just prefer the zing in the D Addarrio strings.
I haven't bought Fender anything strings for years.I've kinda been headhunting new MII and MIC basses when they get sold and try to talk the new owner out of them.
I cannot find anything in the whole Fender sales that they have in music stores that are equal to those MII strings.
Did someone actually say that the 7150s are good now? I may have to take a look at them.

I like the 7250 .040-.100 on my 34" scale 4 strings. Tension and tone are just right for me.
I think they're like anything else-some people will like them, some will not. They only way you can really know, is to try them.
I think that since D'addario started making them in 2010, they've gotten better, even though I liked the previous ones. The only one's I've heard a lot of complaints about, are the 8250's. I don't have any experience with those, so I can't answer objectively on those.
The flats are brighter than the old ones, but feel a lot easier to play.
The 7250 rounds sound great. The 7150's have more of a flatwound sound, but enough of a roundwound characteristic that makes them more versatile than flats.
The stainless steel are bright and snappy, without feeling rough. Roll the tone off, they're still very punchy IMHO. My only complaint on these-they are no longer available in .040-.095 or .040-.100.

Using Fender 9050SL flats on my Jaguar Special, and I really like them.
Also, have a Stedman Pro Telecaster I got on fleabay. Whatever bits of wire that were on it were garbage. Replaced those with 3250R Super Bullets and it was like I had a new guitar.
So yeah, Fender strings will do.

I like the 9050MLs on my P-bass. But, those are the only Fender strings I have any experience with, so I can't speak to any others...
