Fender Blink 182 Mark Hoppus special edition

OK. First off, let me say that this is my first post, so if I am breaking some major rule that I didn't see when I read the rules, please forgive me.

I was just wondering if anyone had ever used the fender mark hoppus bass, and if so, what do you think of it? I'm considering buying it, even though Blink 182 isn't my favorite band. I was just wondering what the opinions of many spectacular bassists were.
Thanks.

I play one. I love how it plays. I've had different necks on it (it currently has a CIJ 62 reissue on it), but I really came to like the profile of the original. The only problem is the SD Quarterpounders. They are horrible. GOD, I hate the sound of those things. I am seriously thinking about putting a Darkstar in there. I am one of a very few who seem to have found them to be a decent MIM Fender. And, yes, mine is shell pink.
:D

A shell pink jazz body with a darkstar would be crazy HOT. Seriously.

Doesn't that bass come without a tone knob? I'm not sure if I'd want a P bass without a tone control.

No tone control on a P isn't THAT bad, my G&L SB-2 NAILS the standard P sound, but has no tone either.

:ninja: Although I AM contemplating putting one in.:p

passive tone controls are pointless. i always have my vol full and tone full. i use my ebs head for shaping my tone. even with 2 band eq basses i whack it all on full.

EQ belongs on the pre-amp.

According to Hoppus, the reason he ditched the tone knob was when they played clubs, some of the fans got so close that they would reach over and fiddle with his knobs.:rollno: Since he likes the tone on full anyway, he had his tech bypass the pot. When he got to the point when he was putting his own basses together, he decided to forgo the pot completely.

Well, thanks for all the feed back. I searched and didn't see much, but I guess I will try again. Does anyone know if there is like a glossary on here? On lacrosse forums, where I've beem for about 7 months, we have a huge glossary of all the terms for some people who might not know all the terms. I know the basic stuff, but so far I've only had one bass (this sucker- http://www.samickguitar.com/cr13.html ) and I haven't done anything with it. I've been playing about a year and a half, mostly tabs and a few songs by ear, and I've had 6 lessons before my instructor moved.

I'm thinking about getting the blue one, and I don't think I will be able to upgrade it or anything, so, do you think that this bass, stock, is good?

a guy at my college has one and i never liked, i dont like the p bass neck because it is to chunky and i find the tone very limited, i would rather buy a nice fender jazz bass instead of, you probably will be happier with it as you grow as a player and want to experiment with different sounds.

but then again if you really want one and think that its the bass for you then do it, no body else knws what you really want, but im sure we might advise against it.
