I wouldn't blame Fender, I would blame the retailer (zzounds). They should have discovered most, if not all, of these defects and never sold it.
If I do decide to get a 4 string bass it will probably be that one or Invalid Link Removed... but not sure if I even want one now.
he's trying to say that Fender made particular bass, not zzounds. What are you trying to say?
Good player, too. Saw him years ago.

G&L rules!!!If I do decide to get a 4 string bass it will probably be that one or Invalid Link Removed... but not sure if I even want one now.
+1 for Sadowsky, cured my Fender gas way back.If you want a good Precision Bass or Jazz Bass, buy one from Sadowsky. Far superior to current Fender instruments. I have owned four (still have two). You can't go wrong with Sadowsky. And No, I don't work for them -- I'm just a satisfied customer.
Right, but I think a MIK Lakland is still better than a used MIA Fender.
Right, so he's ignoring every other word in my post??? The point was actually stated quite clearly. ALL manufacturers have defects. Retailers should have reasonable procedures to weed out the bad ones, and...
That is idealistic and runs contrary to every single retail distribution agreement and assumption. There is always a mechanism for weeding out and returning bad apples, and this process is always easier before the retail sale because it incentivizes the retailer to weed these out.Manufacturers should have reasonable procedures to weed out the bad ones. That's what QA is for (or so I thought.) That is not the retailers' responsibility.
