Fender CS jazz vintage pro 1964

Does anybody know anything or have opinions about these or the CS line in general?

Fender Custom Shop Vintage Pro 1964 Jazz Bass
http://bass-guitars.musiciansfriend...om-Shop-Vintage-Pro-1964-Jazz-Bass?sku=423456

I want to get a Fender jazz, prefer the old styling of the vintage RI jazzes.
What would be the difference between the "Vintage Pro 1964"
"64 Jazz Bass Closet Classic" or "Time Machine 1964 Jazz Bass NOS" aside from price? I don’t see any real differences in the descriptions.

Thanks!

BM

Closet classic has slight wear and tear on the body and hardware of a lightly used vintage bass. I believe the pickups are different as the pro 64 just says "vintage jazz pickups" and the closet classic says "custom 60s jazz pickups". I think it comes down to. Do you want a bass with vintage styling and built like a vintage,or do you want bass that looks and feels like a vintage. You'll notice with the pro, there is no coloring of the neck,no checks, nothing. It's like a brand new bass.

These CS "pro" NOS basses appear to be their NOS "time machine" basses with a different name and with about $1,000 knocked off the price, i.e., the prices they charged before last year's price hike. Either they just rolled back the prices to try and sell more basses or they've cut corners somewhere. I'd like to know.

IMO and this is from me only playing one CS NOS 59' P bass that FWIW they are not worth the bloated price. The one i played was ok...nothing great with a gap in the neck pocket and stale boring tone. The finish was really nice and the neck /frets were also. I guess for $2200 bones I expect a bass at that price to walk the walk but it didnt. All my P basses a modded MIM , 83' SQ MIJ Squier and a USA 79' P blew this away and didnt cost close to this ...even my 79'P.

As would I.......I mean, it looks great, but itis priced far lower than a any other CS I've seen......could it be different p'ups?.....maybe the bodies and/or necks were made in the regular factory......?....with the way the prices are skyrocketing, I can't see this being a regular NOS without there being some sort of catch..... that being said, say what you will about CS basses.....mine was worth every penny...

I wonder if this is maybe that MF worked out its own deal with the CS for some special runs of basses just for them. I've heard that they've done that before.

Hmmmm.......not sure, but I have seen one or two sold other places like ebay for a similar price......if I could just get some specs and maybe a sound sample (even Youtube) that would be sweet......
Really !? (CS Stack Knob) now I have a new problem.....
I don't have the money for one right now but where have they all gone ? :(

I don't think they make them every year, and when they do, they are usually limited and in some pretty interesting finishes (I'm all about that)...B TW, there's a really sweet Turquoise one for sale on Ebay right now.....for $3400.....now THAT'S too much dough IMO...here's some free porn for you, though..........a 1960 RI they did a few years ago...
