fender custom 60's

Is the custom fender 60's pickups the same kind that come on the 60th anniv jazz bass. The website says that the bass has 2 vintage '62 year pickups. thanks

FWIW:

Fender seems to always be jacking with stuff as well as being unclear about what's what. If they say that my guess is the pups in the anni model are '62 re-issues which is what they stuck in the Geddy Lee Sig. (I think).

Email TB'r Fender Mod (I think it is - seems he's a moderator of the effects forum now) cause he seems to know them as well as anybody in TB.

so i would assume they are custom shop labelled 60's spec pickups, probably the same ones as you can buy.

Apparenty you can buy different ones. The reason I contacted Fender Mod to begin with is over CS's. A guy was asking for ID on pups and concensus was they were CS's and looked like what I'd expect CS's to look like with Formvar shellack looking wire. In the process I'd dug mine out and they weren't Formvar and the poles were different - one was tappered one not. Seems there was another variable.

Anyway, the guy I got mine from bought them new so new that's what they were. Fender Mod was fairly certain himself. They looked similar to other Fender pups I had but didn't sound like them.

For all I know CS's are exactly that, they may have a some standard of them at a given point in time but you can probably have them wire one up any way you want if you pay for it.

This is all typical Fender stuff. My guess is their pups change just like the boxes their enclosed in do - wouldn't be suprised if they were made in Moldova/wherever.
