Sweetwater rep told me the wait for my 66 p is going to be 6 months at the earliest. In the mean time, I’ve got a “mini project” to keep myself occupied. I snagged a 1963 precision bass pickup that meeds to be rewound and am sending it to Tom Brantley to rewind. Anyone else put vintage fender parts on their custom shop bass?
I haven’t but you certainly can. I put a Fralin in my CS 59 P several years ago and have been happy with it. It’s the only pickup I’ve changed in my basses.
Raised pole pieces. I prefer flattops. A friend of mine recommended Fralin and I knew I liked how they sounded in Lakland P basses so I gave them a try.
Gotcha. I gigged for a decade with Fralins in my old Skyline Duck Dunn, and I agree they're great.
I'm not in the club but I'd take that '58 in black, '63 in daphne blue or oly white, '62 in sherwood green or black, or '57 in 2 tone.

Me too! Love the precision body and pickup, but prefer the jazz width neck.
Micro-Sol and Micro-Set are the products you want. You'll find them with a Google search and referenced in many guitar and model building forums.
Absolutely love this FCS - tone is brutally thick and present. Looks-wise, also..one of my favs...(this is a bad pic)...my only issue, is that I am starting to prefer the Oval-C 1.75" nut. I can only assume my carpal tunnel has less 'squeeze' with a wide nut as opposed to this jazz nut width. I will be on the hunt for one soon - maybe even trade possibilities.
Do you guys go back and forth between nut widths with ease or is there a preference? Maybe this narrow nut issue is temporary for me...hoping. lol
I’m going through same thing now. I go back and forth between all three classic Fender nut widths. See my sig line.
I have a Precision that sounds better than great but I prefer a Jazz neck. So I will likely swap the OEM neck for, in this case, a Geddy Lee Jazz Bass neck.
There’s no reason you can’t put a 1 3/4” Fender neck on.

Neck swap....hmmm...that might be so worth looking into! I hadn't even considered that - was just thinking someone with an ash bodied 1.75" Oval-C would consider a swap at some point. Other than the jazz nut, it's the ultimate P bass for me. Great idea - thanks for that. I will look into costs etc.. Cheers
Really digging this bad boy…hope it pops up on the used market at the right time…don’t know why this finish is more expensive than the other two though..
