I like that model because it has a little darker headstock than the 18, plus the Custom shop logo on the back has the the yellow in the V. I've got a 2018. Very happy with it. Probably one I will never sell.

I will certainly never sell mine. I never sell any of my basses. If I like them enough to buy 'em, I keep 'em.

This is my mantra too. I've accumulated 30+ basses that I can't bring myself to let go including three pre CBS and three custom shops plus many more rare and beautiful examples.

There’s nothing wrong with collecting. I have a few more basses than I need, but for me they are works of art I also can pick up and play. A win/win in my book.

I think I mentioned this already but I ordered a FCS bass last November 2020 though Sweetwater and there was no deposit. I took delivery of the bass last month and I paid the full price the day it shipped.

On an instrument with standard specs (i.e. from that year's "collection") then no deposit. For anything custom spec'd it has been 20%.

I have a 2005 although I'm not sure exactly what is Custom about it. I've swapped out everything bar the pickups. It has been my go to for the last 3 or 4 years, but that might be changing.

I kept all the original parts and there are no extra holes to worry about.

Ok, just got off the phone with Todd from Sweetwater. The rumors are true, sweetwater customer service really is amazing. I placed an order for a NOS 1966 Precision Bass in Lake Placid Blue and a mint guard. I was going to order a Moollon P bass, but the 3 year wait didn't seem too appealing to me, so I went with FCS, who have never disappointed me. It should look like this when done!

is the walnut listed in the custom shop colour chart the same as the mocha used
in the 70’s?

I have a Walnut, Ash body, '75 P Bass I bought new; the ash grain is very visible through the Walnut color. I always thought the color they called Mocha was a non-transparent brown color, but I'm not certain about that.

so the walnut might be closer to the dark brown jazz that show up on ebay from japan?

Mocha is walnut but it’s not consistent.
