Wow, you don't see too many 61 Jazzes. The CS seems to mostly make 60 reissues and then skip to 64. Very nice.

Here's my keeper... 3TSB, Jazz width neck, P/J passive configuration, blocks and binding. Plays and sound like a dream. 2011 has now been retired and the 2012 is basically the same as this but in olympic white.

I know this is a replica of Jaco's bass, but I always wondered how the wear and tear happened on the bottom of the top horn? It just doesn't seem like somewhere that would be touched too much.

I'm just wondering what Jaco would have said about these basses.
And how did Fender know exactly the wear on Jaco's bass? I thought it was busted up and re-done to the point to where it dosen't even look like it did. And from what year did they model it after? What photos did they use? Is this before or after he threw it into Tokyo Bay?

Thanks. My AVRI '62 was a great bass; I think it was a notch above the '09 MIA P Bass I had. After putting the Fralin on, I don't think it really needed it. I also have a CS '60 Alder/RW NOS P and I'd say the CS's are several notches above the AVRI. This one is way lighter than anything I've ever had. My others are 9.5 lbs. and up. My '75 P is about 11 pounds.

Most people look at the Violin Burst finish, then they see the neck. I get alot of compliments on the neck.

I bought it from Sweetwater. I dealt with them over the phone. Got them to knock off a little on the price. They were pretty easy to work with.

I had a small issue with the case. One latch wouldn't close properly. They quickly sent me a new one with paid shipping on the return of the damaged case.

This bass plays even better than it looks. Only requires a very light touch. I'm still working on that.
You can dial in about any sound you like. Our sound man says it's the best sounding bass his heard. He said the notes just roll through the board.
Really great bass to play.

Just remembered. I believe your right about the Custom Classic's being discontinued. You can only get one through the custom shop, with the custom shop upgrades of course.

Hey guys what's the turn around time from order to receiving your new bass?

I'm really considering selling the misses to fund one.

Also I want it to look EXACTLY like my shell pink 62 J Bass. But I've noticed their 62 reissues only have the two knobs.
My 62 has original 3 knobs.
I noticed their 64 reissue has the 3 knobs so my question is probably better suited for Fender but maybe you guys can help.
Could I order one as a 62 with the string mutes, ashtrays, and also get the 3 knob setup?

I think, in late '62 they went to the VVT setup. They do still use the long-shaft, riveted tuners; my P's and J's have them. Good luck with it.
