Thank you. I beat around the bush probably five years before actually pulling the trigger. I'm really happy with the way it turned out.

Fender originally said 6-8 months. It was actually done in five. It was a nice surprise getting an email with a tracking number and the question "Do you want pics, or do you want to be surprised?"

I can't even imagine your level of excitement, that's awesome and sweet bass by the way that yellow is bad ass.
NEVER woulda thought a bright yellow bass would look that great if I didn't see the pics first.
That thing is sharp, like the sports car of the bass world.

Thanks for the compliment and yes, I was pretty damn excited getting that email. You wouldn't believe the responses I got when talking to different builders about the bass. One guy (who is very highly respected) flat out told me "I'm not interested in putting my name on a bright yellow bass. My interest level dropped even further when you mentioned a matching headstock."

Most people look at the Violin Burst finish, then they see the neck. I get alot of compliments on the neck.

I bought it from Sweetwater. I dealt with them over the phone. Got them to knock off a little on the price. They were pretty easy to work with.

I had a small issue with the case. One latch wouldn't close properly. They quickly sent me a new one with paid shipping on the return of the damaged case.

This bass plays even better than it looks. Only requires a very light touch. I'm still working on that. :eyebrow:
You can dial in about any sound you like. Our sound man says it's the best sounding bass his heard. He said the notes just roll through the board.
Really great bass to play.

Just remembered. I believe your right about the Custom Classic's being discontinued. You can only get one through the custom shop, with the custom shop upgrades of course. :D

I bought my CCJ-V in feb. 2009, which I believe was one of the last models made. I don't think there is a big difference with the sweetwater models except for the neck of course, mine is plain ol' quartersawn maple with pao ferro... LOL But the bird's eye with black inlays is just so nice.
Yes it's you have to play a little lighter on it but it sound like thunder.

Nice bass. What finish is that?

Like you said, only a light touch is needed and this bass sounds like thunder. The times I do thump there's no buzz or clanking. Only takes a light touch on the fret hand as well to get a good clear note.

I don't know what you paid for yours but with FCS prices I hope there's a difference! :eek:

I have been told that the FCS hold tighter tolerances on all electronics and that the electronics and wood is either hand pick from new shipments Fender receives or is special ordered especially for the FCS.

The finish is called aged cherry burst, the specs are similar except for the pickups which are vintage noiseless instead of seymours.
It was listed for 3800, but bargained for a little less, I guess the difference in price in what is asked on sweet water is the bird's eye and the electronics. But anyway a great instrument and a looker.

Sounds like about $600 difference. I got 10% off their listed price, so if you got similar.....

I thought that was the Aged Cherry Burst. I like that finish. One of the final 3 that I was looking at, but I remembered my Grandpa having a fiddle that was real close to the color of my bass. Had to go with it.

I also noticed you have the pearloid pickguard. They described mine as having the same, but it actually has a 3 ply (wh-blk-wh) white. I like the pearloid and wish mine had it or maybe a black pearl to match the neck inlays???? :rolleyes:

I think we both have a couple of great looking and great playing basses! :D

No offense to others here, but if I owned every bass in this thread so far, this would be the one I'd pull out just to show off & make others envious.
Nothing like starting it off with a bang. With this being the first post in the thread.

That thing is awesome. I love the color, the grain on the body, the block inlays the maple neck, I mean literally there's just NOTHING on this bass that doesn't look phenomenal.

I'm not quite sure I'd call it my dream bass, but if it wasn't for the pastel 60's custom colors (Sea Foam & Surf Green & Shell Pink) this would be the one no doubt about it.

Thanks. Nothing wrong with yours either. First time I've seen that color. The matching headstock looks great. I haven't dealt with Bizarre, but I've read some good feedback on them.

Main thing is, these bases play and sound great. The rest just depends on each individuals preference. I haven't seen one bass on this thread that I didn't like. Thanks to everyone for sharing their pics.

I had a '92 Jazz Plus V that I thought played and sounded fantastic. Then I got the CS and I sold the Jazz Plus a month later! :D

Beautiful Bass! I really like the look of the Black Pearl inlays and the neck on yours. Yes, the Custom Shop "Custom Classic" was discontinued. I've got an '06 Aged Cherry with Pao Ferro fretboard 5r that I bought in 2006.

The ones we have now are called the "Custom Classic Special" and was a special run that we had done for Sweetwater. There are several upgrades/changes from the "Custom Classic"

Badass III Bridge on four string models
"AA" Flame neck
Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound pickups
Bound fretboard
White Pearl Inlay on RW, and Black Pearl Inlay on Maple fretboards
Some custom colors, like Violin Burst, Sunset Orange, and others, plus the traditional colors.

The neck is a looker, but it's playability is even more impressive. :bassist:
The Quarter Pounders are great. Wide variety of sound, clear and loud. Very quiet when not being played.

I really like the Violin Burst. The pictures don't really show it very well.

As I mentioned before, Sweetwater made the deal easy and have been great.

My lord, that neck is something else man, I really can't say much else. Just WOW.

you should be generous and post a few more close ups of that for people to drool over.
I do believe you guys have created my lifes new ambition. I will get me a CS sooner than later. :hyper:
