Fender Custom Shop

Thank you very much! The Custom Shop is fantastic!
According to Fender, the body is "Premium Ash", and the finish is "Ebony Transparent". It's a 2001, I just found out.
(Below is my newest picture with a black pickguard. I like it even more now.)

According to their website, BassCentral has one.

Thanks Man...
I just talked to the folks at US Customs to see if they can do this.
(Their not sure...Which makes me start wishing I just picked up a Nordy). Since I know Carey can.

I own one of these..you prob know but its a Closet Classic CS 1970 LTD edition jazz..only 100 made.....ive got to say it is incredible..just the best feeling sounding jazz bass ive played...

i do have to say from a previous post thought comparing a Squire to a Custom Shop Fender is OK...someone else may feel that there Squire feels better to them than a CS..its just personal taste...Ive played Squire's that are fantastic...granted there are prob more bad squires than CS's but like i said....its PT

The craft on the custom shop models is superior. I owned a Japanese, then a couple of American Jazz Bass D Luxe and there is not comparison with the Custom Shop. It is like a Ferrari and a Cadillac. The custom shop necks are very friendly, fast and comfortable to play. The sound is punchy and with that characteristic mid range sound of the Jazz Bass. The Custom Shop are at the same level of the MTD and Pedulla basses.

Hey Marty,

Interesting. Because that's actually a photo taken from the auction of the bass I just purchased 2 days ago. In shipping now. You bought that same base from an earlier auction correct?
fatherof2girls??

How are you loving it??

BB

That would be me!!! I'd never owned one of these before, so it's my first custom shop. And obviously American made Fender. I am blown away by this bass. The gentlemen we got these from is 100% legit. The feel of the neck is unlike anything I've felt before and I have a small hand. The weight is perfect for me, this was a great buy. Let me know when you get yours and what you think as well. And not to mention, these basses are the prettiest I've ever seen.

Marty

It just shipped today and is coming via USPS, so it will be a while. Sure looking forward to it. I have a 2007 Jazz Deluxe, so it will be an interesting comparison. The CS would have different pickups and preamp, not to mention the build. I've read that the cherry burst takes on a new life under stage lights, that will be cool to see.
Interesting that this guy had 2 of these and the buyers would connect here!

cheers,
Brian

So Marty,
I'm curious. You had a choice between the 2 of them, how did you decide on the one you chose? Weight perhaps? Yours being 8 lbs. 15 oz., mine being 9 lbs. 3 oz.
I'd also like to be clear that the one you pictured in your first entry here was not the one you recieved, your auction was actually this one:

The one I am expecting that I purchased is this one:

correct?

cheers,
Brian

That is correct on the picture.

I honestly had not picked up on the weight difference of these two basses. He had two up for auction and mine was up for a buy it now or best offer. I made him an offer that he accepted.

I can attest to the Fender CS basses and their AMAZING playability and tone.

I had the chance to play a few of Ian from New Found Glory's CS basses and they were to die for. I hate to cop anyones custom style, but I would have picked exactly (minus the MJ leafs) what he did. Say what you want about his playing style, but the dude knows his basses and his tone. Really impressive stuff.....
