Fender Frankensteins

This is mostly eBay parts.

Fender j body I presume made in Ensineda in the 2000's— midnight wine color, listed as "dark red," I think it looks black cherry metallic. Just a sweet color no matter what it's called.

Never skimp on the neck, that's where the money goes, so Allparts got some business and I'm a happy camper. It's basically seventies styling with a custom color and standard non-70's pickup spacing.

But the neck plate, man, she was beckoning me at the Trading Musician counter for a song. What a sexy, non-pc doll!

So slick! I'm loving the "Funk-tastic Seventies" vibe!

Bob help me when Fender deals Midnight Wine back into regular circulation.

I love the wine red colour, and that neck plate had to be bought!!!

72 Fender Precision. Schecter neck with frets removed - white strips instead. EMG PJ/J set from early 80's. Battery is tucked under next to tone pot. VVT controls. Badass bridge. Original neck is hanging on wall. I've played an entire gig where band didn't know the bass is fretless but commented they liked the sound.

I've sifted through this thread and just realized I haven't posted any about my Fender Dimension parts-bass Projekts. Here's my first, built around a MIM Dimension IV and a Squier Vintage Modified '70s Jazz neck...

I have another that's nearing completion, using an American Deluxe IV HH body and a CIJ Fender Aerodyne Jazz neck. I'm very excited about this build. I've been wanting to try out those Seymour Duncan NYC soapbars for quite some time, both because of the sound demos I've heard, as well as the prospect of using a coil-splitting configuration. :)

(Fun fact: I learned about those GHS Limited Edition Infinity Steels on this very thread! Thanks, @FunkHead!)

Happy to jump in here!

Just finished my first parts bass build and nitro refinish in this.

Early 2000's MIM p bass body
Squier CV 60's p bass neck
Aguilar pickups
Surf green nitro on body with matching headstock (rest of neck is original poly).
Deco boom pickguard (clear acrylic, engraved &copper flecks hand painted from back)

Super proud of this thing and looking forwards to getting to know it after these past 2 months of patient procuring, painting, finishing, and assembling :)
