Here's mine - August 11 1982 '57 AVS Precision #V002033.

When I read the first page from this club and saw the serial number above, I was surprised to see how close it was to my '57 Reissue P. V002035

Actually, while I'm here, same bass, V002035 with some interesting one-offs. The bass is perfect in every way and feels like million bucks. Pics are out of order but you get the point.
#1. Serial number checks out, but under the neck plate is a 'ghost stamp' CTP on the plate.
#2. Pots dated 1981. Both pots dated the same but only the tone knob is clearly viable.
#3. Enamel wire through out. I know some had a mix of cloth and enamel but I thought that it was more of a 1983 - 84 thing. All solder joints are original.
#4. I had a previous 82 '57 Reissue P with a pickup route date stamp, this one does not. Original buffing compound found in the PU cavity and under the neck plate.
#5. Both grey bottoms have 82 dates. Looks like July 1982.
#6. Neck heel date, smudged, is 7/28/82
#7. Neck pocket.....and here we go. 1970's era 'Fender' body / pick guard sticker with V000121 plus an old Home Depot receipt as a neck shim dated 1986. Perfectly folded and left in place. Looks like someone bought some bug spray.

The 'Fender V000121" has it's ink transfer onto the bottom of the neck as well as ink transfer from the Home Depot receipt right over the J.Torres stamp. There is a burnish mark in the body transferred from the underside of the bridge.


OK everyone.....go nuts on this one.

We've seen lots of 1982 examples with plastic wiring on these early reissues.

Sweet P, Allotabass1. Our bases could almost be twins. Sold mine a year or two ago. serial V002033 had all plastic wiring and a paper sticker body serial number that didn't match. I recall it was around v00500?
My neck date was pencil August 08 1982.
Lots of anomalies on the early Fullerton reissues but generally very good instruments.

Those stickers can be seen rarely:

As Mike says, plastic or cloth or often plastic but the wire to the pickups are cloth. Also the pots were metal (left pic) or plastic shafts (like in the Std at the time):

Sometimes there are no pencil date marks:

Can't remember if I ever saw a stamp date.

All looks 100% legit.

Wonder the purpose of the neck pocket stickers?
Since the earliest Tele reissues didn't use V#'s.
I couldn't find much with V000... other than a few Strats. Maybe it was to keep them separate from "standard" bodies or neck plates weren't readily available or an I'll attempt to keep them in order.

Since mine is the lowest, does this mean I win?

V000121 is the lowest I have ever seen .
Otherwise that thing looks like mine '82. Mine 57 had a 5 piece body and no raised A poles. Also plastic wiring, but pencil neck date.
Still have another 57 with cloth, 3piece body and raised A poles also from 82.
So some variations are always possible.

Hmm..I've been a member for a long period. I've caught up with the latest posts. It does appear, imo the water has been mudded so dirty that nearly every bass produced during the 80's by Fender is now a Fullerton reissue with mix matched parts and wiring. Yes.. I said it.

I have seen multiple examples of ink stamped dates on Fullerton reissues.

Thanks to TB and this wonderful forum, those occasional muddy waters can be cleared with a little reading. With the proliferation of vintage instrument sales online, some sellers just dont know exactly what they have, or they are trying to fetch an inflated price. Some folks have Corona transition instruments and think theyre Fullertons bc of the similarity. And yeah some have all sortsa mix-n-matched parts 80s parts guitars.

I would also think that many of the really knowledgable TB regs are a small percentage of the bass playing/buying community, and the Fender Guys (an even smaller subset) that could really look at a Fullerton RI Pbass or the Jazzes and know all the small details of what differentiates it from, say, an American Std Jazz or Precision Elite from ‘81-‘85. From headstock logo placement, to wire types, neck stamps, bobbin colors etc etc.

But luckily, all that stuff is discoverable right here. When I finally found mine last year, reading this forum front to back was everything i needed to to make sure i knew what i should be buying when it came to Fullerton RIs. Lotta good info, pics, and folks to steer ya right.

I’ve never seen a LPB for sale to be honest! what do you think is a fair price?

I saw that too. That is an extremely rare beauty. I first noticed it a couple weeks ago and it was actually $3800 then so he did lower it. I've owned several of these of the years and at one time had one in every color but 3 color sunburst which along with 2 tone Sunburst is the most common. I found Lake Placid Blue to be the rarest esp with basses in my experience so that counts for something. Fiesta Red is pretty rare but i have seen a few. Next to LPB Id say Black and Candy Apple Red are rarest bass colors for me anyway. With guitars i have seen quite a few LPB Strats. I've only seen 3 or 4 LPB Fullerton basses in my life. Id say After two tone Sunburst, Vintage White would be next most common. Anyway its all subjective. These are going up again in price...several years ago you can still get a custom color for under 2k. Now 2 tone SB are going for 2-$2500 esp if they are all original with case. Im doing my best to resist making an offer myself but its killing me. Haha. I don't need any more basses now but my God that is a beauty and even the wear looks beautiful and genuine. I still think $3300 is a little high. I'd probally be all in at mid- high 2's but no more than 3k. Go get that beauty before i do something stupid!

I forgot to mention in my previous post. I would say that tortoise shell pick guard is not original to bass...although i could be wrong. It does actually look like a Fullerton era 'Peperoni' tortoise guard but I believe LPB models all came factory equipped with white guards. Just a bargaining chip you might be able to use. Some of these maple necks clearly have the string tree in a different position as I have seen two others that do as well
