Fullerton friends.... Here's another. Really nice aged white jazz bass. I'm a bit amazed at what these are priced at these days. My Fullerton '62 AVS P is pretty amazing and on par easily with the Fender CS basses I've owned, but it seems the prices have shot up for the AVS Fullertons.

I love my Fullerton Jazz more than anything else I own. It’s far and away the best bass I’ve ever played and is in very very very good condition compared to the example above. Still, if someone offered me $3500 for it, I have to admit that I would be sorely tempted to part with it.
Then again, what the hell am I thinking? With the rate of appreciation being so crazy, in twenty years I’ll place an ad in the Talkbass classifieds and retire on the profits!!

Asking price isn’t sold price. I just checked the sold listings and they are a lot less. But can’t fault the seller for asking for more, maybe they will get it.
Doesn’t have the original case , could negotiate a discount .
My Gastellum-made '62 RI P has ruined me for my Lakland 5502. Does anyone have any recommendations on another bass to replace my 5502? The potato chip thin (front to back) neck on the P is glorious and has made the lakland feel like a 2x4... Suggestions are welcome.
Hi all - I know this is not a for sale forum, however I am thinking about selling the case that case with my 57 Fullerton reissue. I never use it, and it is literally sitting here doing nothing. My question is how collectable are the cases themselves? Also - is anyone after a Fullerton case? Haha.

EDIT - I have just looked on Ebay/Reverb and the general price is around $250. Is this a realistic ask, or is it another case of 'asking price' and not 'selling price'? Thanks

I suppose it goes without saying, but I'll say it. Selling the case will surely hurt the resale value of your bass if you decide to sell it. I don't use my case either, so I have it in a bag and it lives in the garage. It's out of the way, but it's there if I ever need it.
But, if you want or need $250, it's obviously your choice.
Fullerton Reissues are collectibles these days. Don‘t break it up by selling the case.
I’d have to agree with the others. It’d be a bit of a shame to break up the pairing of your bass and it’s original case… especially considering that the case itself is unique and future buyers/collectors will surely want both the case and the bass.
If you need the bucks, that’s understandable. But if the case is simply sitting idle, it would be wise to hold onto it.

BTW, did anyone else notice how sky high the string action is set on this Jazz bass?
Based on my experience, judging by where the tops of saddle height adjustment screws are at, relative the to holes in the bridge saddles and the string height around the 17th, this bass needs at least a 1 degree neck shim. That's assuming the truss rod is right and can still do it's job correctly.
If it were me, I wouldn't even make a offer for that bass without inspecting it first hand or by a reputable local luthier, first. It's in Woodland Hills, CA, not too far from me, but I'm not in the market to buy something like this right now.
**Note: These are just my personal opinions based what I can see in the provided images.

Yeah, I think that's right. I didn't notice the gray banner strip up top on Reverb, before you mentioned it. I only notice the still live orange 'Add to Cart' button under the listed asking price.
The action on my neck was nearly that high, as well, when I bought my Fullerton Jazz. I couldn’t bring the strings down without suffering a lot of fret buzz. It turns out that my neck was suffering from the famous Fender “ski jump” issue.
Getting the Facts about Ski Jumps
This occurs when the neck bends right around the 16th fret. Truss rod adjustments have little to no effect on correcting the problem.
I was worried that I might have to buy a replacement neck and place the original off to the side. This seemed to defeat the purpose of owning/playing a classic bass… my favorite bass, in fact! I heard of a company in Texas that is able to straighten necks. After contacting them I sent my neck in for repair. A couple of weeks later my neck returned and it was perfect. It’s been nearly a year now and my neck is steady as a rock. The action can go as low as I want. No buzzing, no noticeable changes due to the temperature, no repair marks whatsoever. It is literally as good as new and I could not be happier.
I’m not affiliated with the company in any way. I just figured that this might be helpful info for anyone who might be encountering similar issues.

Hi all - thanks for the responses. To be honest I think the value of my Fullerton reissue is shot anyway. Original pots, jack and pickup all gone. Still lush though!
Yep. This is the place that straightened my neck. The owner, Erik, is miracle-worker… and a very nice guy.
The case featured is probably a mid/late eighties issue as the leather handle/ends are lighter than the Fullerton versions , interior appears more orange than red . The accessory compartment has brown as opposed to black textured lid vinyl and most notable is the lack of any flared central latch. Many collectors have probably picked up on these traits and held back from purchasing it. All original very clean Fullerton tweed cases can easily fetch between $300-$400 on reverb , the mid/later versions go for less.
