Fender Geddy Lee Jazz question re: fretboard radius

Question for those who know: If the Fender GL is supposed to be a faithful reproduction of Geddy's '72 jazz bass down to the sanded-thin neck, why do they make it with a 9.5" fretboard radius if--and correct me if I am wrong--Fender's standard at the time was 7.25"?

Not that I'm complaining -- I just bought a CIJ GL and it really smokes. But I'm curious why they missed that one detail. Kind of makes me think of the JB75 that was so detailed as to have a three-bolt neck but somehow missed the most defining feature of 70s Jazzes, the pickup spacing...

From my understanding, it was popular for 70s players to reshape the vintage 7.25 radius to 9.5... perhaps Geddy did that as well?

I wasn't aware that was a popular thing to do, but given the sort of user mods I have seen on basses of that era I wouldn't be at all surprised!

Looking at this video, Geddy's fretboard does look rounder like a 7.25

Geddy had Fender replace his original neck after too many re frets with a custom shop neck to his specs. He wanted pearl blocks instead of black, oil finished neck that was sanded to feel like his old broken in neck and the 9.5 radius.
I prefer the way he wanted the replacement neck and I’m glad they made the US Geddy the way they did.

It must be 9.5 then. Thought maybe Geddy had his own unique neck for his nitro black Fender Jazz maybe in a different radius then the mainstream US versions. I have a US Ged. Great bass but unfortunately it weighs over 10lbs. The weight of my 60s roadworn jazz is only 8.5 and feels great.

Yeah I do. I am considering selling it. Weight and the fact the truss rod uses a screw. Why they didn't use the truss rod on the Am Pro's is anyone's guess. Comes with the tool but absolutely pointless as it doesn't work with the screw.
