I dunno, Jimmy is a pretty accommodating dude and though he's best known for his medium and short scale instruments I know he'll do a 34" too on occasion.

No harm in asking, the worst he can say is "no"... and I know he will too, speaking from experience

Yeah. That's on my 'love to have one for a weekend' list to try it out bass. An S-S-S model, that is.

Fender did do it, they just didn't sell many, so they stopped. It was called the Fender HM, three jazz pups, (lace sensors on mine) and a 5 position switch. Mine is from 1990.
