Hey y’all, I have a question hopefully someone out there can answer. I picked up a MIA sunset orange Fender Jazz Bass this weekend. When I was looking at it a little closer, I noticed that the pickups weren’t stock, but were a pair of Sadowsky Jazz pups. I also noticed that the volume switch for the neck pickup didn’t look the same and realized it had a push switch built into it. I pulled off the pickguard to replace it since it wasn’t stock, and decided to pull out the plate and look at the knobs/pots. I’ve never seen a pot like this one on the basses I’ve owned. Does anyone have any input to what the deal is with this pickup/pot combination? Any suggestions on whether to keep em in or swap back to a more stock setup? Thanks!
From like late 90's thru '07 Fender had the S-1 switch. It puts the pickups in Series. Yes that was stock. When Fender revamped the AM Std line around '08 they stopped putting the switch in.
A Fender shell, with Sadowsky innards? This has to be a first! It's like stuffing your turkey with caviar, instead of traditional dressing...
Ha! I’m not sold on them yet. They seem a bit quieter than my MIM J that I upgraded with Delano pups. Definitely not as much growl but a smooth sound for sure
Right now, an Ampeg SVT-100 into an Ampeg 410 cabinet. As far as heads, I also have an Ampeg SVT-3PRO (our for repair) and a GK MB500 at my disposal. Cabs, I’ve also got a Fender 610Neo, an Avatar 210 and 212, and somewhere in the garage I have an old Hartke 410 and a Hartke 115 (more of a project cabinet...the only thing original left on it is the box/carpet and the jack, and the jack is getting ready to be replaced)
