Western Wildfires

Drummer friend and his wife lost their house in the Lake Chelan, WA fires on July 4th.
Fortunately they were in Ohio at the time. Not sure the air quality is much better there.
Oh well...

Anyone indoors due to the smoke?
Looks like some of y’all getting the brunt of it
I'm an hour east of Portland OR. Today's the first day this year where I am tempted to skip my daily three mike walk due to poor air quality. Not super bad by our standards though, especially considering the huge number of fires to the near-ish east of us right now. The bad news is that we're looking at 100+ degrees today and tomorrow, and it's been a very windy summer here thus far.

About 1.5-2.5 hours southeast of me there are at least 300,000 acres currently burning in north-central Oregon. Plenty close enough to drop current visibilty here to 3-5miles at best, and bring on a nasty allergic reaction for many of us.
Sorry to hear that. Be careful. And with all due respect you are not a spring chicken anymore.
😉

Link for those wanting to look up the fires Passinwind mentioned. “Complex” fires are usually separate fires that burned together

Yep, and if you look at that map I am right across the Columbia River from Hood River OR. Some good friends of ours are quite near the Hay Creek Complex, in a very arid and remote area with unimpeded wind exposure. Not quite in the evac zone though, thankfully.

Watching wildfires creates quite a bit of anxiety. I wish the best for your and your friends
Thanks. We haven't heard from them this week but I think they are just far enough away to be fine for the moment, and the prevailing wind direction right now is helpful. When they don't show up at the farmer's market at this time of the year we always know something's up though, as it's their main gig.

Awful news. Today the wind direction here is supposed to switch and bring in a whole lot of smoke from out that way and up in Canada. It's happening more slowly than predicted though, thankfully. I have a gig late this afternoon and am really hoping to get it in before things turn ugly for a few days. But it is indoors with AC available, at least.

And Oregon fires this year are now being quoted at over two million acres and counting.

Not to compare to what others are going through but I did a full cleaning of my pool filter 2 days ago. The grids were black. Never seen that before. Assuming smoke from Canadian fires. Scary to think breathing that in. Good luck and protect yourself if you are in harms way. 🙏
