Fender Jaguar Bass Mods (MIJ)

Just acquired a first gen Jag made in Japan. Pics won't upload for some reason. Looks like this...

With this bridge cover...

A few thoughts...

-haven't noticed any neck dive
-aftermarket bridge cover and weird "custom" neck plate are questionably attractive
-guy that had this before decided flats were a good idea on what amounts to an active jazz bass
-shielding wasn't addressed-LOTS of hum

Any thoughts on a) improving the shielding b) the bridge cover? My wife thinks it looks cool. I don't think it looks bad, but it seems out of place on this bass and is really obtrusive. Also, does anyone play an active jazz bass with flats? I've never met such a person.

Very cool color on this bass.

Someone here shared this pic on how to fix the shielding on the Jag...

You basically just need to connect the control cavities with copper tape under the pickguard. The paint in the control cavities themselves is conductive, they just dropped the ball by not connecting them all together.

This is perfect. Thank you.
