Fender Japan 51 P Bass reissue

My method.
After I do a set up, string height, intonation neck relief and after all the jacks are in their boxes
And the clowns have all gone to bed. I'll press down on all the strings after the end of the neck, while holding them down, I adjust the pickup height up to where they touch the strings under that pressure from my hand.

Or none of that and I'll use a nickel on top of the pick up and adjust the strings to touch the nickel.

Man, put the new Daddario chromes on, checked the pick up height about 1/8" under the E string fretted on the last fret. Man lol does that little single coil pack a punch! Huge tonal range with the tone knob, quite amazing for a very basic slab bass with one pick up. I thought my American Std P Bass with the 60s custom pick ups really drove my little Ampeg BA15 but this 51P is brutal lol. It's definitely a P bass but with something more. Really primal. Very comfortable, nice fun bass to play with a great punch. Hard to imagine anyone wanting to change the standard pick ups? If anything would be to tame it down a bit and refine the output a bit maybe but I like it just the way it is.

The single pole under each string makes it punch. I dig it too.
