Fender Japan JB62SS short scale jazz is back Junior collection

body is basswood. Colors are sunburst, satin daphne, black, satin vintage white, satin surf green, satin shell pink. What is with the recent obsession with satin finishes on guitars? Ever since lamborghini and other exotics started it a few years ago, it's progressed to other cars, guitars, bathroom fixtures and myriad other products. What was once gloss became satin.

Satin finishes go back at least 20 years. Would buy if I hadn't just bought a Squier Mustang.

In my experience, standard Jazz Bass bodies are pretty big. Hard to tell from the photos if the bodies have been scaled down at all - a regular Jazz Bass body on a short scale might be kind of lopsided and awkward.

Also trying to market an item that retails for $1,000+ to "entry players and young people" is pretty goofy to me but it's not like Fender hasn't done it before.

It's a Japanese market item, so they probably have an idea if lots of beginners there shell out that kind of money for a first bass.

I had a Road Worn Jazz and a P/J Mustang that I loved - this looks like the best of both worlds!

I don't think the body size on the new version looks right. Compared to the older version which was 85% scaled down

I think these new basses are 30 inch scale - it’s the guitar range that’s been scaled down.

I bought the Spector Bantam due to should and wrist pain, and there's nothing junior about a quality short scale. The tension and tightness of the tone is something I never read about but man are they comfortable and and the response of the string is phenomenal. Definitely going to eventually scoop one of these up
