Fender Japan JB62SS "Smart Size"

I checked out one dealer on ebay they talked about any warranty work has to be done in Japan? which isn't a big deal unless it's a neck issue
I didn't see that but what choice is there? Easier/cheaper to pay somebody here in the US than send to Japan for something. No worse than a used instrument. And if it comes defective I can just send it back.

The Black Japanese mini-J came yesterday (very fast shipping) - factory sealed. I'm amazed at the quality - it's as nice as my AStandard J, if not nicer - just a beautiful piece end to end - smooth and silky and flawless. It was set up OK and I was playing it 15 minutes after it came. Strings seem better than what you generally get on a Fender here in the states - maybe it's my imagination, not sure. Sound is very good - it's got more thump than any full sized stock J I've played - I expected that from a shortie. But it's still got a good Fender J sound - it's real Fender J, no question. Does it sound as good as my AStandard J5 with pressure wounds - no it does not. But it sounds very good and I played it for 3 hours with no ill effects.

Thanks for all the info. Everybody here was spot on - even though I paid a good bit more than what it cost when they were still making them, it's money well spent for me.

Hey Shortie!

So great to hear that the Smart Scale is working out for you! If it's anything like my JB62-M Medium Scale Fender Japan Jazz - you have yourself a real winner!

May it give you many long hours of joy and amusement, and it's great that you can get around without any issues. Congratulations! I have heard nothing but great things about them.

Now we need some pics or no bass was actually received!

Thanks. I'll get a pic up there when I have a chance. It's awfully nice. It's almost too small for me, but the sound isn't small at all. It's definitely a winner. I was seriously surprised at the workmanship when I unboxed it.
