Actually, I made that site as reference for the latest CIJs only, it's not yet complete though, I need to put some more Jazz models:bassist:

(..I miss the JB75-US in VWH/R :)) Keep up the good work, kenjikun - do you know if Fender Japan is coming up with something new in '09?

Has anyone looked at the specs? What's up with the basswood? I'm not knocking basswood, but isn't the Fender sound mostly achieved with Alder/ash? A basswood Fender just seems....eh. :meh: Nice looking basses though!

The US models are Fender Japan's top line (except for the DMC line), alder or ash bodies and top craftmanship all the way. The other (basswood) models, well, don't know much about them. Focus on the US models. They're awesome, unfortunately the YEN is rather strong these days.

You can - there are multiple sellers on ebay that import them with free shipping even. They say they can get any model - all you have to do is contact them. I've never done it so I can't vouch for anyone - but the option seems to be there.

Yes, but then you have to pay both Japanese tax (which you didn't have to before when purchasing from places like Ishibashi) and the resellers fee. Same guitar/bass all of a sudden costs a few hundreds dollars more.

I have a cij 57 reissue precision with a basswood body and it sounds awesome with the flatwounds i have on it.
Mine is fiesta red with tort pickguard and chrome covers on it and it looks stunning :hyper:

  16. Great blog! If I was in the market for a Jazz or Precision, I'd be tempted to buy a CIJ just because of the colour choices. So many nice ones.

Would there be a chance to include Mustang and Jaguar basses in the blog's listings, by the way? That would make it even nicer... :)

Some of the pics say Ikebe right on them, and there's always the Ishibashi web shop. I've ordered 'Japan only' stuff from Japan before a couple of times, it's pretty easy.

not anymore. fender cracked down a while back. there were a number of threads about the exact date when ishibashi stopped selling fender japan stuff overseas. nowadays you can still find a lot of that stuff on ebay, particularly through katana guitars ebay store.
