Fender Jazz 24....none more BLACK....

The Jazz 24 bodies are a bit smaller than the standard, and the upper horn is slightly longer to make it balance better.

I've never played a Jazz 24. I'd don't want to sound dumb, but do you mean "balance better than a regular Jazz" or "balance better than if they didn't do that"? Overall, does it feel much different from a "normal" Jazz? I like something that just perfectly balances on my right thigh when I'm slouching back in a chair with my foot up (sounds odd I know, but that's how I usually play). My Japanese Jazz Bass Special is like that. It just parks there.

I've never understood someone making a blanket statement like that - it's like insisting someone buy a Chev - well, ok, the entry level car, the big SUV, the little SUV, the midrange sedan, which Chev do you want?

A Fender is not just a Fender - do you want a passive P, passive Jazz, active, PJ, 5-string? What do you want??? I don't mean you Scionreality, that's just what my reaction would be to someone suggesting I buy a "Fender."

Having said that - this black bass would rock, for me, if it was glossy black. Not too much into the "Stealth Bomber" look.

To be more accurate, I did some recording on a Fender Geddy Lee Jazz, and expressed to him some 'likes' about it. He nudges me occasionally about buying either that or the Jazz 24. He knows if I went for anything, it would be a jazz configuration, under $1000, and the least "Fendery" looking I could get.

He's actually a pretty good guy. ;)

Both the Fender Jazz 24 and Valenti #19 have a push/pull pot that does active/passive. :D

Odd...my Jazz 24 doesn't have that???

This is from the Fender Jazz 24 spec sheet on Fender.com:

Controls
Master Volume with Push/Pull Active/Passive Switch, Pan Pot,
Duncan Designed BEQ3 3-Band Active EQ with:
Treble Boost/Cut: +/- 15dB @ 5.1kHz,
Mid Boost/Cut: +/- 14dB, -15dB @ 650Hz,
Bass Boost/Cut: +/- 12dB @ 30 Hz,
Mini-Toggle Mid-Scoop “Slap” Switch: Bass Boost +5dB @ 83Hz, Mid Cut -5dB @ 633Hz

Is this a new feature? Dunno... :p
