Fender Jazz bridge question....

What yar did Fender start using bridges with the grooved baseplates on the MIA's???

I have a '97/'98, that does not have grooves under the saddles. I've been experiencing problems with my saddles sliding side to side, (mostly down) which has been causing me to bend my notes on the E string when not wanted, due to it being shifted too far from the edge of the fretboard. Because of this I have a BadAss III currently on it's way...

If the BadAss doesn't work out, I'm wondering if I can just order a replacement with the grooved bass plate?? Will the newer bridges be a perfect fit for my late 90's Jazz??

Your bridge uses 5 screws, right? If so, the BAIII is not going to be a direct replacement. The BAII will be though. I would also recommend taking a look at the Gotoh 201. Ive used it on two basses and think it does a great job for only around 40 bucks new.

Ah, then the BAIII should be ok then.

On the bridge plate question, Ive never seen them sold by themselves before. Ive seen saddles, but they were almost as much as a new bridge by itself.

Look at the DLX CHROME BASS BRIDGE. It is 3-screws with extra holes for thru-body stringing.
