Fender Jazz Experts Help

So today was black friday and I thought that I should go in and check out the local GC. I walked out with what I think/thought was a great deal. A used MIA Fender Jazz V for $430, now my question is this:

Upon further home inspection I have found that the Pups have seemed to be changed out due to cuts in the pickguard and the rear PUP routes it also appears that it has a modified volume pot (very well could be the s-1 switching pot) but seems to be aftermarket due to the carving out of the control route. Also there is a huge dead spot from the 15th fret up (which is probably just a set up issue)

So is this a great buy or another case of a molested fender that isnt worth the money?

Well the result is this...took it to my setup guy (who is not only knowledgeable but also has been repairing stringed instruments for 30 years) the neck isue was not just a trussrod issue the neck itself was warped quite nicely may i add, so i took the bass back to GC so that they could sell it to some other poor sucker...actually i traded it in for an ibanez SR506 on a 6 string whim...which now that i am home i dont know if i like the sound of the barts or the whole bass itself...oh well back to gasing for something else
