Fender Jazz rumours..?

I don't know what year it was made, but at a store in 2017 I played a 70s reissue Jazz with a rosewood fretboard.

I regret not buying it. Indeed, I wish they would make that again. I think it must not have been common even when they did make it?

[EDIT: A quick search suggests it was from their 74 reissue series, and was perhaps more common than I realized. I still regret not buying it. ]

Yeah they made the 74 AVRI with rosewood boards. They also made a 75 AVRI but I’m not sure if they ever made a rosewood fretboard version.

i hope they go backwards and release the AVRI series that included the 63 p, the 58 p, the 64 jazz and whatever the 70s jazz was. the original series was in my opinion a step down from them. I'd buy one new in a heart beat if they brought those back

A new name for the brown ones?

I love Fender. There’s one in my avatar. But Fender hasn’t changed anything about the P or the J since before I was born. Color rotation = old model discontinued and new model introduced.

my old man got an american jazz (professional? Was passive) and it had some subtle improvements like body shaping around the neck heel. And it was a very nice bass. But the changes were not earth shattering.

Actually, you would have my attention with that. 4 way switch for the dual J.... 60s, 70s, series, parallel.
