Fender Jazz rumours..?

Oh I already got the scoop from my guy. They're going to do a reissue of the 1982 reissue of the 62 Jazz. In essence, it will be a burst/tort Jazz with like.... jazz pickups and like..... knobs and stuff.
Can't wait!!!!
(For those of you who are a little slow, that was a sarcastic dig at Fender for always creating hype around "new and exciting" versions of cutting edge tech circa 1960 +/- using the same old colors they did back then and calling it something different.)
Brace yourself. Absolutely nothing new is coming from Fender. Buy a J if you want one before prices go up again.
Sweetwater is already blowing up my inbox saying that prices will be going up again. I wouldn’t wait - a jazz is a jazz.

I disagree!!! Mine was built just 40-years ago and I prefer its sound to the sound my 1965 Jazz produced 57-years ago...Difference is my '82 has a maple neck and the 70's pickup spacing (4" center to center) whereas my '65 had the rosewood fingerboard and of course the 60's pickup spacing (3.6" center to center). Until I found my '82 in 1985 I was sure that the last great Jazz bass was my '65...
I wonder how you "refresh" a Jazz Bass? Get it to drink some Gatorade??
The most recent thing that caught my eye in the Jazz bass stakes was the gold deluxe Squier that is in my local ma and pop shop. All gold hardware. I don't even think it's all that recent. It does look very nice, though, and you know it probably feels and sounds it too. Maybe it's something along these lines.
This is an individual thing, but I feel like a Jazz without a pickguard adds the same amount of cool points as shaving one's head. Some just look GREAT bald and to me, so does a Jazz.
Easy question:
You call the re-freshed version "Vintage". Let's translate this into the iPhone world:
Imagine Apple would - 20 years after releasing the first iPhone - offer the very same iPhone as their most expensive product (besides the custom-shop), more expensive than their newest iPhones with the latest tech.
Then, another 31 years (1982/2013) later, they would make the copy of their first iPhone even more expensive calling it "Ultra-vintage", promising it would be an even more accurate copy of the first iPhone.
Then, 6 years later (2019) they would offer another version of their first iPhone, that is a less accurate copy of the first iPhone, less so than the 1982 version, less so than the 2013 version - and call it the "Original iPhone".
Now rumours tell us that in 2022, they might release a new totally old version, that is even more accurate to the original iPhone, but different from the ultra-accurate models of 2013...
I love Fender and all bass myths, or pretend to do so to maintain my self-respect.

I like blocks. Seems like cost cutting has minimized blocks. Or laziness. Who knows.
Besides a Squier 70's Jazz, a mexican 70's Jazz, a japanese 70's Jazz, an american 70's Jazz, an american active Ultra Jazz, different CS 70's Jazz Basses? I'm sure I left some out.
One of the few things I would jump at is a repeat of the 1983-85 Japan Vintage reissues. They all had a little bit of magic installed factory-standard. A really amazing batch of obsessive-about-quality manufacturing.
I really like the new catalyzed hard finishes, though. Especially in NC humidity. Doesn't get eaten up like nitro.
I have an E series 84-87 MIJ P bass. Sweet chunky neck. Great player. It's my flats bass with some broken in Chromes on it.
I hate to be on the Fender-bashing bandwagon and I'll even go so far as to say this really isn't Fender-bashing.....
The vendor where I buy my basses isn't at all cheap, but you can get exactly what you want. And it will be right the first time.

They have amazing luthiers at Fender today who can do anything if the money is there.
Meaning it takes us to pay for it.
Sure the ‘50s and ‘60s basses are great, I love ‘em.
But the optimist in me says they can build as good and even better today.
I’d love for them to make an ox blood red Jazz Bass. With blocks and binding. That would be a great color. By color I mean model. So does Fender.
Luckily, I have all the basses I need so I don't worry about what's coming out next.
