Interesting the price list includes a molded case. Mine was a 93, and it didn't come with a case. Could have been they were on blow-out. They had several of each red and white and only one black one, in a plastic trash can with a "$249 each, made in USA!" written on it. (kid you not!) Tried a couple, took the black one. Walked out with the bass, a cheap gig bag and a Bad-Ass II bridge in black. Put the bridge on that night and been there ever since.
I don't know that I've ever seen a fitted case for the JP90 (specific to the body). I've seen a few in the standard blow-molded Fender case, but with universal interior inside. I think identical to the non-specific, "fits everything" case Fender offered as a stand-alone retail case.
It's still my favorite "performing" bass, as it is light and well balanced. Can jam on it all night up on my feet.

I wonder if anyone knows what the actual street price was? Street price is the lowest price a dealer can offer where the warranty is still honored by the manufacturer. Just wondering. On Dean basses, which I’m extremely familiar with, usually have a $200 to $250 price difference between Suggested Retail Price and Street Price.
With a $499.99 Suggested Retail Price and a $529.99 Suggested Retail Price for last year available would the Street Price have been $299.99 and $329.99 respectively? Just curious.
Small mom & pop shops almost never sell at street price as they simply can’t compete with the big box stores.
I’m noticing that the nut on the basses pictured here is more of an ivory white probably due to age. The nut on mine is a sort of clear plastic. Thinking of maybe a Tusq nut, maybe in black?
Also the action is nice but the A string buzzes which looks like the saddle just needs to be raised a tad.
The split P pup is much louder than the single coil J pup, but it looks like that’s because it is a bit lower from the strings than the P pup.
Any thoughts or similar issues?

The original nut was bone for certain on mine. I have the Fender parts list for the JP90 around here somewhere and it is listed as bone.
Make sure there are enough wraps around the post of the A string tuner to really pull the string close to the head stock or it will buzz.

Yeah, for some reason how the strings are wrapped makes a big difference on this bass.
When I first got mine, the action was a mess, big bow and bottoming out at the neck ends
After re-adjusting it about 5-6x, I added shims. After re-adjusting another 5-6x, I ended up with one very small shim, and a number of neck and bridge tweaks.
I got it pretty good, but then kept pulling the G (and E) out the nut slot.
I considered buying those add-on string retainers ...
Somebody here suggested redoing the winds so that 3-4 winds sat atop the string to tighten the break at the nut - and it worked.
Mine has an active Duncan in the Jazz position - really nice bass, almost too easy to play.

Action and neck are fine.
Visually just looks like ‘A’ string is just too low based on adjacent ‘E’ and ‘D’ string height. I wish I had string radius tools. 7.25” radius is what this is spec’d with.
I adjust each string’s height so that it doesn’t buzz at the highest fret that I play. The strings might not be in a perfect radius arc, but I tend not to fuss too much about measurements, which are only a starting point for adjustments anyway. For the music I play I generally don’t go past the 12th fret, so I’ll adjust for no buzz up to, say, 15. That’s good enough for me.
I play with a pick, so I'm not looking for the super low action that the light touch players prefer.
'A' string is buzzing all the way up (to body) after fretted 'B' (2nd fret) while no other string buzzes at all. That tells me it is too low.

That's some crazy grain - as a decorative artist I'm going to guess it's a faux graining job, especially considering it was refinished. The closest 'real' grain like it is on my late '80s Saunders P maple neck. It would explain why it appears to be a single slab/no seams. That's not a bad thing, in fact it's a custom hand-grained finish - which is unique.

Too bad the JP90 doesn't get more notice. It really is among the most comfortable playing bass guitars out there. Even as I get older, the JP90 can do the whole night, due to its light weight, balance and comfortable shape.
I still dream about getting a Custom Shop run of these made, same shape and feel, just better electronics and nicer woods, maybe some color options and an option for a slightly thicker neck (as my hands get older, they like a little beefier neck)
Don't know if there are enough of us JP-90 nerds out there who'd spring for such a thing to get them interested.

Check Reverb for prices; they’ve climbed since I got mine in Dec 2020 ($500 used at GC). I fixed a few things on mine: replaced P pickup with a Pure Vintage 63, replaced pickguard, replaced a corroded BadAss bridge with a new Omega replica, and added TI Jazz Flats. It’s an enjoyable bass to play.
