Fender love?

i'm not a big fender fan, but i do LOVE a great P bass, i have a thing for them i guess.

but as for jazz basses, i really (sorry everyone) dont like them at all, i've only played one jazz bass i ever liked which was i think a mexican active deluxe.

but other then i'm not a big fender guy either.

I purchased a Fender Stu Hamm Urge-II... coming up on a year ago... I love it!

I also have a Thumb-5 NT... I love its sound... period!

...but I tend to play the Stuey more often... 'cuz it's so easy to play, and the tone shaping capability...

Fender P's and J's are about the only basses that are perfect for any occasion. You can use one or the other in any kind of band and you will always be welcome. You can't always say that about other types of basses. Plus they're relatively cheap, and no matter what your budget, you can find a Fender that sounds and plays great. The only Fender haters are bass players who don't like playing them. Hey, you should be glad that Fenders are the gold standard and not Foderas or Alembics!

Fender - well they WERE the originals werent they?

I know there are loads of Sadowskys and others out there, but what are Sadowskys modeled on? - I'll tell ya, the J and the P...(there may be others, but those are what I've seen)

They may be old, and some say old-fashioned - but who cares? - they're reasonably priced, solidly built and you can guarantee to get a decent, workable tone out of them...what more do you need? (realistically...they've upgraded some models to active electronics, so you can't use that excuse...)

The fact is that Fender instruments have a style, feel, tone, and even a culture all their own which none of the haters can overshadow.

Pretty much my story exactly.

Nowadays, all my GAS is for Fender in one way or another.

I love some Fenders, and some not so much. It all depends on the bass, but they fit almost in every musical situation you could throw them in.

P basses and Jazz basses might not have the crazy exotic woods and electronics and they might not all play effortlessly, but think about this, if you want to haul some dirt you don't need a tricked out pickup truck.
