Fender Masterbuilt

i came to the conclusion to get a Masterbuilt - Custom Order... what do you think? Which builder would be the best? Todd Krause, John Cruz, Dennis Galuszka or Jason Smith...?
Fender Precision Bass "58-"59 custom shop masterbuilt
The specs would be:
Alder Body
-Maple Neck
-Gold Anodized pickguard;
-AWG 22 cloth wires
-Finish Heavy Relic
-Pickups by Abigail Ybarra
-Volume, Tone

Tone/Sound should be close or very much like the „good old ones

I would go with Yuri Shishkov ! A few years back, I owned a MB Strat by YS - The best fret work that I have ever seen.
The MB instruments are a lot different than the production models- in a "Good" way. I don't think you can go wrong using any one of the builders. IMHO, I would go with Yuri

Either way you will enjoy !

;)

I already have a Fender Precision "55 masterbuilt by Greg Fessler NAMM 2011, beautiful +++++++.
Now I would buy another.

I vote for Dennis Galuszka !

I have a Master Built 66' Jazz Bass that was build by him for me in 2009 - it is the most incredible bass that I've ever had - the wood selection was done so fine and they do fit soooo well together, the finish was done nicely (Closet Classic finish with some additional crackles)

I do know at least two guys who have basses made by him and they all LOVE the Galuszka ones....

What I've heard is that Dennis Galuszka builds most of the basses in the Custom Shop so he might be the first person to call...

I've played a Todd Krause PBass that sounded pretty lame... but that is all personal taste of course ;)

I know many of the builders and I have basses from them and I love them all. Todd Krause made the RHIV prototype in black and it's pretty rockin'. I would give Jason Smith a try or Alex Perez if you can get him. This is a custom RHV that Json made for me. It is like Mary Poppins... (practically perfect in every way!)

I had the chance to meet Yuri a few years ago, as my local guitar shop was doing a Fender night and Yuri was the main guest. There were a large collection of Fender Custom Shop instruments to look at only, and he showed pictures of guitars that he built when he lived in Russia. He had to virtually make every part, it was a great night.

sure.. this is my Jazz Bass (it was a custom order - you might notice that it has no Lollipop tuners - I've ordered the normal 60ies tuners since I do love their look;) )

the Todd Krause was a 1970 PBass that is standing at my CS dealer .... but it's all personal taste and I'm sure the other builders will do a great job too....

But in my case I would always get back on Dennis Galuszka :)

Here's the pic!

you're pic pushed me to show you my more recent acquisitions

from up left:
Fender BlackTop white chrome pearl Jazz (full step downtuned,
with Hipshot BT7 bass extender & RotoSound Swing66 strings) and factory dual splicoil pickups and brand new HiMass bridge

Fender Modern Player Jaguar Special (ordinarily tuned Fender standard strings but with Hipshot BT7 bass extender as well)

My next purchase (I'll have to fix few trading on this purpose) is gonna be an olympic white/tortoiseshell pickguard/rosewood fingerboard MIA STD J, very much like the above pictured one

Cheers,
Wallace

"Holy smoke, holy smoke
Plenty bad preachers for the Devil to stoke
Feed them in feet first this is no joke
This is thirsty work making holy smoke yeah
Making holy smoke
"

Uh, Maiden fans out there?

Me too: I pull my hand up!

Up the Irons!

Cheers,
Wallace

D'you believe me if I tell you I knew Reggie for his amazing job with Mariah, Xtina and Eros? Well, I'm a headbanger who plays
his wonderful signature bass heavily downtuned on thrash cuts

Anyway, the tune you offered me, immediately reminded me of this one down here:

Enjoy my friend

Cheers,
Wallace

Again down the mood of the song you sent me, here's Santana

ten years ago, on the world tour to Milagro album, live in Ciùdad do México.

A wonderful rumba, if you've somebody to dance with along it.

Bass player:
Myron Dove.

Cheers,
Wallace

Dennis Galuszka is most likely a fantastic builder, however my 2008 1961 Jazz was very disappointing.
Body/neck weight-balance was off, way too much neckdive. The neck pickup output was not good, too much output, causing compression.
Bought due to the smoothness of the neck, and the beautiful rosewood fretboard and swamp ash (too) lightweight body.
Should have tested it more/better before I bought it.
Traded it.
