Did you all want an update?
I tore in with my drummer last night on a rig (SVT + 810 - not my thing, but I understand it enough to get a good feel.)
Holy heck this bass smokes. It feels so good, and I still don't have my preferred strings on it and I have yet to set it up post shipping. The American J pups are not what I expected, in that I have never liked stock fender pups as they always sounded a little janky to me. These did not... and holy hell, the growl even without any extra dirt was striking. I had fully intended to swap them out, but now I definitely won't be doing that for awhile if at all. Pots are all super clean, no crackling or anything. I also didn't hear any perceivable hum? Maybe a bit more general noise, but not noticeable at all when playing, and it's possible that a chord in my chain is going. I might be at least a partial convert to J pups. This thing is really a joy to play and it will only be better once I get it fully set. I didn't even notice the weight differential from the Aero, and the slightly deeper neck is still super fast, but has a really nice heft to it. Zero neck dive. I'm sorta in love.
I have some EQ fine tuning to do with my rig to get it exactly where I want it in reference to the guitar space. I'm noticing a little less inherent gain/breakup vs my Geezer pups, but the natural sustain of the JB is killer.
I am super happy with this bass.
