I have a couple of MIJ Fenders, the Sting bass and the other one thats similar, the butterscotch colored bass. I really love both of them.G ot them used at a good price.

I had never seen this Mike Dirnt Bass until my teacher showed me his this week.He has 3 of them. I did not play it, I only looked at it.

I loved the look the rose wood looked awesome. They retail at 799.00, so I am thinking you can pick one up for 500.00

My problen is, I did not know they are MIM. I have never felt good about the necks on MIM Fender Basses.

I have a 97 P and the neck is as good as a US made or anywhere else.
I also have a Mike Dirnt Squier Precision, the neck is very simular to my 97 P. I can play each well, the 97 P a little better.
The MD Squier weighs 8lbs and the 97 P is 9lbs.
A Mike Dirnt Squier has more mass than a P bass.
I replaced the pickup(s) on the Squier because the pole pieces did not line up evenly with the strings. I installed a DiMarzio Split P.

Agree with the heavy. It is slab but with the arm contour it's fairly comfy.

Although I don't know about a bulky neck I find it's a good half way house between a P and a J neck. 40mm Nut and about 23-25mm thick on mine.

I don't know if the Fender and Squier versions have different neck profiles. But when your talking about the Mike Dirnt you have to be specific as a lot of folk don't realise there is a MIM Fender version.

My MIM is a crackin bass the only flaws on it I have found were. The bridge earth wasn't actually under the bridge and the pick up routes where a wee bit tight and it looks like the finish was chipped installing them and then touched up and the American pups sound sweet. I'd say not far away from the sound road worns have that everyone raves about.

Definitely a very underrated bass IMO . I just can't help but think if it was sold as anything other than a sig or even as a RW it would be better thought off.
