fender mim pbass input jack

I recently bought a brand new fender MIM p bass. At the shop it was kinda hard to get the lead into the input jack, it goes in and stays in good but its jus hard to get it in. The guy at the shop said it wont harm the bass but he tried to fix it anyway (unfortunately its still hard to get it in). Is it harmful to the bass in anyway if I have to force it in abit? I can go up to the shop and get it fixed for free no problem but im just wondering if its doing damage.

Any help appreciated alot.
thanks
beni

Sounds like the input jack may have turned to a position that the long tang is hard pressed against the cavity side, with the cord is plugged in. You might remove all the p/g screws and lift the pick guard at the jack end. Check and see where the jack tang is in relationship to the cavity side. Readjust as necessary. JMHO
